Perfect
I stood, feet dug into the wet sand, watching the glowering sun dip into the endless sea. The taste of the salty air stung my tongue. Summer air danced around me as my hair flew over my eyes, obstructing my view of the sunset. The radiant glow of golden hour glinted in the water rushing past my knees. Milky pink trailed behind the vibrant oranges of the sunlight, causing the clouds to take on a lovely lavender hue. The frothing waves foamed against the shore, licking at the dry sand as waves pleated over one another as the horizon hemmed their folds like a clean trimmed dress.
“HOW’S THAT?!”
I turned back to see my brother gripping onto his bat, as he and his friend discussed the bowl out. I caught my lips curling. Beach cricket was our tradition.
I turned back. Ahead of me, my friend splashed around the bobbing waves, spraying the glittering water everywhere.
I wished the scene could pause so I could memorise every detail. I wanted to hang on to it all—the sea, sand, sunset, and my friends—because everything was so perfect.
