I’m Home
I see the red soil
Stain the outsoles of my shoes
Brushing the burnt land.
I see the stray cows
Move along the crowded streets
As I walk back home.
I hear the waves crash
The gulls screeching by the shore
The tide abating.
I hear them laughing
Kookaburras in the trees
As I walk back home
I hold my grandparents
I feel them hug me tightly
As I leave my home
And when all my friends
And my family walk with me,
I know that I’m home.
