Migrants

The drowning blackness swallowed the shivering bitterness of the cold,

Icy cries welled in eyes of families now gone,

A hopeless soul surrounded by faces of the bold,

The hidden life showered with blankness now none.

The shadowed moon glistens dawn yet to come,

There spotted stars shining through the blanket so dark,

Families so many but now only some,

Where trees used to grow now only a spark.

Holding hand in hand,

Mourning for the lost,

Together we stand,

Half a community what more might it cost?

Towering the new land,

Let us leave the gone at rest,

Hope to grow and expand,

Thinking for the best.
