Human Evolution
Evolution is the way of survival and extinction known as natural selection. It is how one cell created us along with all the other species there is today. Evolution is how today we can unconsciously chatter in our sleep and sometimes even walk. We humans were made all thanks to evolution. Because we learnt to survive and use our brain to think smarter than anything else, natural selection chose us to be the next generation.
🌿What is natural selection?
Charles Darwin was an explorer who thought outside the box. He was the one who found The Galapagos Island and asked why. Why do the same species of birds on this side of the island and that side of the island look different? As in long beaks and short beaks. He thought hard about evolution. Could evolution be the cause? This is when he made a thought of natural selection. Natural selection is a process in which species without traits that help them survive, die and do not get passed onto the next generation. This painful and more of a trial and error process, natural selection, is how things changed to be able to survive today. But it not only changed animals it also changed humans throughout evolution .
👭How did humans evolve?
Human evolution is only one of the many unsolved mysteries. Paleoanthropologists think that humans evolved from a common ancestor which split into 2 groups, these 2 groups are our modern day great apes and us as in humans or Homo sapiens. Through the evolution of humans different species of Homo came, Homo erectus, Homo habilis and Homo heidelbergensis are just a few of the types of Homo. 200,000 years ago Homo sapiens appeared and used our smart thinking, like our ancestors, to go to different places with rafts and hunt with spears made of stone. But not only that made us the most advanced, language made us go to the next stage.
Ab When did language evolve?
Language is only 1 of our many qualities that help us survive. About 600,000 years ago, our ancestors the Homo heidelbergensis started talking. They used sounds around them to imitate to create their first language. We talk unconsciously because we are now used to talking. When H. heidelbergensis started talking, something triggered the nervous system to just make a noise from the tongue hitting the surface of the mouth or lips while the diaphragm and chest muscles create the air to speak just like how we talk today. Sometimes they used hands to show what to say. Not only did language affect the way we changed, but walking on two legs made us from a hunchback to having a straight spinal cord.
🦶Why did we start walking on two feet ?
Being bipedal ( able to always walk on 2 feet) has made our appearance different from apes. By becoming bipedal we got to hunt better and have a straighter spine. Why did we start walking on two legs? Was it because of our knowledge or was it because we stayed on land not trees? No, actually, we started walking on two legs due to some natural body changes which happened around about 6 million years ago. 4 million years ago the lower half of our legs changed to become an upright foot, the ape leg, though, was shaped outside the foot which helped them to walk on all 4’s at times. As Homo sapiens (humans) adapted to nature it became easier to look at far distances and protect ourselves from predators if we were taller, so humans naturally evolved to follow bipedalism. We not only had two feet to hunt we also used them to travel.
🗺Where did Homo sapiens originally come from and how did we spread around the world ?
Our amazing brain helped us to travel out of Africa. A discovery in Morocco says human ancestors originated in North Africa. This fossil tells us that about 315,000 years ago our ancestors lived there. These fossils show Homo sapiens have traveled all around Africa. Soon H. Sapiens colonized everywhere which is how we ended up being in separate countries. With our hand axes and raft making skills we were the ones who survived and that is how we survived.
Human evolution is the process in which we were made throughout time . Humans would not exist without evolution. It is a really important part of how we were made otherwise we would have stayed as that common primate and there would be no gorillas, apes, or even monkeys! Without evolution we might have stayed as a single cell. Did you know that this single cell created life through evolution. Life was all dependent on evolution from that one cell which evolved to everything.
